Job Descriptions: If you are
looking for a summer job that is outdoors, lots of fun and will give you
great leadership experience, then consider one of the following positions
at LCYC!
Summer Program Director - Job Description
(.pdf) Develop and implement overall summer camp program
that will address children’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual
needs. Help to create a positive environment for all campers and staff.
Work closely with other student staff members (e.g. cabin leaders), and
the camp directors. Develop activities, gather and organize materials
needed, as well as set daily camp schedules for activities, meals etc.
Prepare the site before camp sessions begin. Enjoy working with local
children of all backgrounds. Be able to work in a team environment, but
also take initiative and be accountable in own areas of
responsibility.
Waterfront Director Depending
on training and skills, student will lead a particular part of the camp
program, such as life guarding and canoeing. Responsibilities will
involve: preparing swimming area and canoes and other equipment before
camp season starts. Supervising swimming sessions and teach canoeing
skills. Also, help to develop and implement wilderness camp, including
three day canoe trip. Enjoy working with local children from all
backgrounds. Be able to work in team environment, but also take initiative
and responsibility in own areas of waterfront.
Cabin Leader/Counselor - Job Description
(.pdf) Develop a positive atmosphere within a group of 6-7
children. Ensure that children’s needs (physical, emotional, social) are
being met. Depending on skills, abilities and interests of the student,
there will be additional responsibilities in program leadership such as
crafts, games, music, drama, or working with children with special needs.
The ability to work in team environment is required, as well as enjoyment
working with local children of all backgrounds.
Cook/Kitchen Personnel - Job Description (.pdf) Plan and prepare
nutritious menus for staff and campers. Arrange for the purchase of food.
Practice food safety standards. Develop dining hall and kitchen
procedures. Willingness to participate in other areas of the program as
time allows. Managing information, multitasking and communicating
effectively are also necessary for this position. The ability to work in
team environment is required.
